Can you use body wash as laundry detergent?

Body wash often contains moisturizers, fragrance, and ingredients that are not meant to rinse from fabric the same way laundry detergent does.

In a washing machine, it can create too many suds and may not clean clothes properly.

If you have no detergent, hand washing one small item with a tiny amount is the safer emergency use, but regular detergent is much better.
